Phase 2 Work on the long-awaited project starts July 2024
The Borough of Lansdale is excited to announce that the long-awaited improvements to East Main Street are finally underway with an anticipated timeline of twelve (12) months.
The improvements to East Main Street are designed to enhance the safety, functionality and aesthetic appeal of one of Lansdale's key thoroughfares. The project will include:
- New stormwater facilities to reduce surface flooding (currently underway)
- Curb, sidewalk and driveway apron improvements from the intersection of Broad Street to the project limit near Greenwood Road (currently underway)
- New ADA ramps and crosswalks (currently underway)
- Decorative stamped concrete segments
- Additional amenities including benches, trash receptacles and updated lighting
Throughout the duration of the project, you should expect activity between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Curb and sidewalk replacement can be a disruptive activity that will limit your ability to use the public sidewalks during construction. To provide efficiency, quality and safety, the contractor will be working on one to two block segments at a time. They are required to always maintain pedestrian access along Main Street on at least one side of the road.
If you have a driveway that is affected by the project, you will be restricted from accessing your driveway during the replacement process and curing time. This timeframe may be up to two weeks as the replacement work is completed and the concrete reaches proper strength for vehicle load.
Traffic flow will also be impacted by this project as there will be lane restrictions in place during various phases. The contractor is required to post signage in their active work areas to identify parking restrictions that include dates and times of work. Please plan accordingly as it is crucial to be cautious and follow all instructions when driving through an active construction zone. Your patience is appreciated, not only with traffic control, but throughout the entire streetscape project.
If you have any questions, concerns or need assistance during the project, please use the contact list below and we will be sure to follow up with you. Again, the Borough appreciates your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance East Main Street to create a safer, more attractive and functional roadway for everyone in Lansdale.
